I am excited to announce that tracking has been completed for my upcoming album, "Nowhere Is a Place". This record is a collection of road-tested songs of genre-spanning variety, all nestled in bed of Ozarks-flavored Americana. I am thrilled to be accompanied by a stellar Wrecking Crew of local heroes & talented friends on each of these songs.
Since October of last year, I've been lucky to do something I've wanted to do for years & finally captured the essence of these songs with the help of my good friend Chad "Gravy Boat" Graves. Sessions that started as casual live-take captures became full-fledged soundscape productions, with multiple instruments at our helm and many talented friends ready to contribute. Some masked up & traversed the hillside to the beautiful farmland located between Billings & Clever in Stone County, Missouri to join us while some were able to send their tracks online. The music evolved as steadily as it did suddenly, working long days & late nights to make the deadline of finishing tracking before Gravy's wonderful wife & musical partner Betsey Mae "Biscuit" Graves' due date for their new baby's arrival on Jan 29th. At 11:57pm on Jan 28th, tracking was declared done. Willa Jane Graves was born two days later, at 9:53pm on Jan 31th.
It has been a truly jovial experience to breathe life into these songs. Some of them have been around a long time, like the title track, which I wrote as wide-eyed 20-year-old in 2012--or "No Gravestone" which began its life as an impromptu live cut on Mood Ring Circus' first EP in 2015. Some tracks are more recently written, and some were written as they were recorded. Seemingly the work of something beyond us, so many things just fell into place as the tunes took on new voices and ideas, making this very much a collaborative record which features a wide cast of my very favorite people & musicians. I am very happy with the result and I can't wait to share it with the world.
Stay tuned for more, and thank you for joining me!!
